Sequential photography
Ray Demski
Ray Demski is a professional photographer and athlete.
He grew up around the rocky mountains of Canada, where his love for the outdoors activities began.
At the age of 14, he started traveling around the world for 7 years. After Ray picked up his first camera, his interest in photography ignited immediately and started documenting the diverse people and landscapes around him.
I really like Ray's style because he takes photos of common sports or activities and makes the shots and the subject look very professional.

Scott Eaton
Scott Eaton (born in 1973, 48 years old) is a photographer, artist, creative technologist, and educator living in London. His work consists of figurative representation by combining traditional craft with modern digital tools.
I like the fact that Scott is taking shoots of people that are professionals in what they are doing, I feel like he is really showing their talents by taking pictures of every move they do and putting it together to show how they do it step by step.

Harold Edgerton
6 April 1903 - 4 January 1990
Harold Eugene Edgerton, ''Doc'' or Papa Flash was an electrical engineering professor at Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a photographer from Nebraska, United States.
Harold's interest in photography came from his uncle, Ralph Edgerton which was a studio photographer. His uncle taught Harold how to take, develop, and print pictures.
I am impressed by Harold's work, even tough he didn't have the technology we've got now he still managed to take some great shots. In my opinion, he really changed photography in a good way because of his original style, thinking and minimal editing.

First shoot
Plan: I will try to take multiple pictures of the subject while in action
Additional lightning will not be needed
The shoot will take place just outside the school
The only piece of special equipment I will need is a tripod

In my opinion, these three photographs were the worst i took because they were taken too early, as a result the subject isn't shown in none of the photos above.

I chose these photos as my best ones because in the other ones the subject is too close to the previous photos due to the shutter speed being too fast, this makes it almost impossible to edit with photo plus without making it look unprofessional, this is also a reason to why I chose to work with these four photos only.

Second shoot
Plan: For this shoot I will take a couple of photos of a ball while it's moving.
The location of the shoot will be outside the school.
Additional lightning will not be needed as I will take the shoot while the sun is up.
I will need a football/handball/tennisball (or any ball that bounces) and a tripod.
I will need one or two people to throw/catch the ball.

These are my worst photos because the camera is too zoomed in and the subject wasn't in frame in most of the shots. Also, the photos are underexposed and it makes the subject to not be clearly visible.
|
In my opinion these are my best photos because the light is alright and the camera is focused on the subject. Also, the subject is in frame in every photo and this clearly shows it's movement.
These shots could've been better if the shutter speed was higher so i could've taken more pictures of the ball while it moving. |

This shoot was inspired by Harold Edgerton because of the simplicity of his shots.
Third shoot
Plan:
For this shoot I will take a couple of photos of my friend while hes running.
The location of the shoot will be outside the school.
I will not need additional lightning because I will take the shoot while the sun is up.
I will only need a tripod.
I will need one subject to do the running.

I have just observed a big disadvantage of the camera we are using in school, the burst mode is a bit too slow to take the shots i want if the subject moves too fast, even after tweaking the settings to make it as fast as possible. This results in the subject being far away from the previous shot and doesn't show the subject's movement accurately. I could fix this by changing my position so i get an angle from the front or the back of the subject instead of standing parallelly to the subject, like I did in the first shoot.

These are my worst shots because the subject cant be seen in the photo due to the fact that they were taken too early or too late. Also the shots were under exposed and the white balance wasn't set correctly.

In my opinion, these are my best shots from the third shoot because the subject appears in all of the 5 shots, the lightning is good and the camera is focused on the subject.

Final Piece
I chose this picture as my final piece because in my opinion it is the best one I've done and It really fits in the sequential photography/moments in time theme.
I like how the pattern of the wall goes with the repetition of the subject.
The brightness of the picture is really good and makes everything look clear, giving it a professional look.
In my opinion the editing is quite smooth as there are no major mistakes and the picture altogether looks natural at first glance.
I tried recreating Scott Eaton's style by keeping the picture bright with clear movement shown, while keeping editing minimal and smooth like Harold Edgerton's work.

This picture is an improved version of the first edit from the first shoot, I decided to redo it because it had some major editing mistakes that made the it look very unprofessional and I wasn't satisfied with it.
I've circled the errors so they can be seen easier
